Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family Programs

Our programs are committed to providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people with the care they need to meet their social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Family Preservation

Our Family Preservation program is committed to building strong, well-functioning families. It educates and empowers parents and children, enabling many families to remain safely together or to reunite through restoration.

Foster Care

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foster Care program provides emergency short-term care, long-term care and respite care to children and young people who require out-of-home care to meet their social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Foster Care Support

Our Foster Care Support program provides carers with ongoing training, assessment reports and 24/7 caseworker support and advocacy. We like to think of our carers as part of a larger Narang Bir-rong foster family, to promote a sense of belonging and community.

Leaving and Aftercare Program

When a young person in kinship or foster care reaches the age of 18, they are technically leaving the care system. NBAC’s Leaving and Aftercare Program works to support our young people during their transition out of care to independence.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, and those throughout all of Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, sea and culture, and pay our respects to our Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
