Ethics Centre Residency Update

Narang Bir-rong is proud to have been awarded a Residency at The Ethics Centre. We will use this amazing space for community consultations as we develop a little box of wise conversation starters exploring what it is to be Aboriginal in Australia and celebrate this amazing culture which spans some 65,000 years. The box is targeted at workplaces and for retail. A box of wise conversation starters for 20 key Aboriginal issues, myths and celebrations including: Understanding The Stolen Generations, Invasion Myths that require debunking, Aboriginal Culture, Employment Opportunities and the Facts about the Social Determinants of Health and how this impacts all Aboriginal people.

We know how useful it can be to have a little box of conversation starters to explore with your colleagues, family and friends. A kit naturally can’t solve everything, but what counts is the positive discussion we can all have and an understanding of what it really is to be Aboriginal in Australia.

The box’s framework supports those organisations already committed with their own Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP). We emphasise relationships, respect and opportunities to empower Australians to further extend their understanding of Aboriginality. Why? Aboriginal children today and tomorrow deserve to grow in an Australia where their culture is celebrated with deep meaning and respect for who they are. To Belong.

Narang Bir-rong

At Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation, we are committed to keeping kids with their families through our family preservation program. As an Aboriginal-led organisation, Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation understands that the best way to create meaningful change for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community is by working with individuals from the same cultural background. With our holistic approach to solving complex problems, we are able to build trust and rapport with families, achieving positive results and driving real change.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work, and those throughout all of Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, sea and culture, and pay our respects to our Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
